Hello, Dear Readers-
I feel I have failed you by not posting for such a long time. I beg your forgiveness. There has been a substantial amount of illness in our family and I hope we are rather beyond the crisis point. As you all know, if you know me at all, I believe in prayer and know it makes a difference. I'm not saying if I ask God for something enough I'm going to get the response I want but I do believe in spiritual power. So thank you, all of you who have shared your prayers with us.
So...here we are. One Hundred twenty-six into this presidency. What, my friends, have we missed discussing this last six weeks? Let me refresh your memory.
1) Executive Order 14242 - scheduled for publication on March 25, 2025. Directs the Secretary of Education to "take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Department of Education" and to ensure that the allocation of any Federal Department of Education funds not support "'diversity, equity, and inclusion' or similar terms and programs promoting gender ideology." The Order also directs that programs or activities receiving any remaining Department of Education funds will not advance DEI or gender ideology.
2)Executive Order 14238 - Reducing the Scope of the Federal Bureaucracy, identifies seven governmental entities, including the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the Smithsonian Institution, and directs that "the non-statutory components and functions [those] governmental entities shall be eliminated to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law, and such entities shall reduce the performance of their statutory functions and associated personnel to the minimum presence and function required by law."
3)DHS Threatens Harvard with Decertification if it Fails to Respond to Data Request. An April 16, 2025 DHS press release mentions the threat of decertification if Harvard doesn’t comply with data requests regarding student protest activity, stating: “The Secretary also wrote a scathing letter demanding detailed records on Harvard’s foreign student visa holders’ illegal and violent activities by April 30, 2025, or face immediate loss of Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification… And if Harvard cannot verify it is in full compliance with its reporting requirements, the university will lose the privilege of enrolling foreign students.” See Secretary Noem Terminates $2.7 Million in DHS Grants; Orders Harvard to Prove Compliance with Foreign Student Requirements, DHS press release, April 16, 2025.

6)Undermining the rule of law: Disregarding court orders, threatening impeachment of judges, attacking law firms and lawyers, abusing executive power and eroding checks and balances are authoritarian practices the Trump administration has used to push forward his anti-rights agenda.
7)nternational Relations: The administration has been engaged in various diplomatic efforts, including a potential prisoner swap with Russia and Ukraine and discussions with South Africa regarding "genocide" claims.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO ABOUT IT?????

Participate in peaceful protest.
Continue to write your legislators regardless of political party. You elect them, let your voice be heard.
Attend town halls and show up, show up, show up.
